12 month payout memo

Ample time to adjust? Faculty have already made decisions about whether or not to work this Summer and a decision about changing 9 month payouts to 12 months is only now being decided upon? 200 full time faculty will be affected. While faculty can appreciate the difficulties this change will solve for HR, HR doesn’t seem to fully appreciate the difficulties this change will create for 200 faculty members.

  1. I see this as part of a pattern of delayed pay for faculty. Dozens on our campus have had their pay delayed during this academic year (program coordinators, overloads, stipends, full time adjuncts) It takes varied forms, but we cannot count on being paid on time any longer. Because the practice of delaying pay is so widespread and well-established, it will likely take legal action to change it.
