Back in 2009, a report was published about the cost and concerns raised by Chancellor Bruce Leslie’s push for single accreditation for the Alamo Colleges. If the current SACS accrediting agency’s concerns over each college’s autonomy moves forward and Chancellor Bruce Leslie’s recent “threats” of single accreditation are realized, then St. Philips still stands to lose its status as a historically black college and Hispanic serving institution, translating into millions of dollars lost in grant funding. St. Philips is down to around $4 million in funding, but that’s still a lot more lost than the $200,000 saved with single accreditation.
Click through on the report to read more about the implications of single accreditation. Chancellor Bruce Leslie has really put the colleges in the hot seat on this one.
